Mission
The mission of First Generation Lawyers is to create a community for first generation law students to receive academic and personal support, network within the law school and the greater law community, address concerns specific to first generation law students, and cultivate resources within the law school to support members. The organization shall also be mindful and supportive of members who are also first generation college and high school graduates.

Membership Benefits
FGL's main benefit is to show students that they are not alone. Law school is not easy. It is even harder when you are the first in your family to ever attend law school. But that does not mean you cannot succeed or you should be at a disadvantage. Our monthly meetings allow members to socialize with their like-minded peers and hear from various speakers who have unique advice specifically for first generation students. Our yearly events such as "Career Closet" focuses on providing law students with professional clothing, at no cost, and our "Speed Networking" event focuses on providing a networking opportunity with local attorneys in a variety of practice areas. FGL provides social and professional development opportunities to make first-generation students more comfortable and welcomed.
