Mandarin Debate Team at UW-Madison
About
Established in 2016, Mandarin Debate Team at UW-Madison is a student-run association participating in domestic and international competitions as well as a platform for students engaging in mandarin debate to communicate with and learn from each other. Our purpose is to provide members with opportunities to strengthen oral communication and debating skills, fostering effective and valuable communication, and dialogue between individuals of diverse social backgrounds.
As a debate team, we value differences in argument and views, seeing it as a productive and democratic force. In the process of participating various activities of Mandarin Debate Team at UW-Madison, such as training programs, competitions and discussions, your abilities of different dimensions will be improved, including the ability to think critically and logically, to search and integrate information effectively, and to speak and convince individuals decently.
More importantly, compared to skills, mind, knowledge, and experience are of greater significance for a debater. A dialogue of high quality cannot continue without the collision of value and opinion, the art of persuasion and communication, the attitude of tolerance and sincerity, and the understanding of a wide range of social issues and life events.
