About

Parent Organization: University of Wisconsin - Madison

The Sierra Student Coalition (UW-Madison) is a student organization dedicated to environmental initiatives. Our mission is to encourage students to explore, enjoy and protect the wild places of the Earth by providing a forum for environmental education, discussion and action. The national Sierra Student Coalition organization aims to develop leaders for the environmental movement by training, empowering and organizing youth to run effective campaigns that result in tangible environmental victories.
We promote environmental education through documentary screenings, lectures and hands-on wildlife restoration. We host special events on campus during Earth Week and World Water Day, collaborating with other environmental student orgs on campus whenever we can.
Our members take field trips of many sorts, from local nature hikes to touring places like wind farms and water treatment plants. We participate in grassroots activism by attending rallies and writing letters to newspaper editors and government officials.
We also try to point our members to volunteer opportunities, including outdoor work at the Arboretum and the Lakeshore Nature Preserve.
Our meetings are bi-weekly at 6 p.m. in Science Hall, Room 360.
